On this occasion, it has been the guys from Dallas Dog RRR , who with their efforts have turned the life of this defenseless creature around.

This mixed-breed dog is paralyzed, but not even this condition made her “responsible” take pity and want to give her a better life.

The poor creature, who has been named Ottilia, was found  lying on the trunk of a tree, starving and sleeping in the open air.  A chain around her neck kept her tied to the trunk, giving her little room to move, even if she was dragged.

Watching her was heartbreaking as it was clear that she needed help urgently.

The rescue team immediately contacted the authorities after Ottilia’s “owner” refused to care for them. As we know, this type of process takes time, but the Dallas Dog RRR volunteers did not give up until they had the dog with them.

In addition to being tied up, her body showed clear symptoms of malnutrition.

Days later, the group reported on the rescue of Ottilia, along with authorities and a representative from the Texas State Animal Control Office.

“She was paralyzed and overheated… her temperature was 40 degrees Celsius when she arrived at the vet. We have done blood tests, x-rays and an exam. She is slightly anemic, her white blood cell count is low and she is very dehydrated,” the rescue group reported on its Facebook account.

The dog’s condition was pitiful, but they were also surprised to discover that  her paralysis could be due to a tick infection,  rather than having suffered a fracture, as they initially believed.

“The doctor did not see a fracture or trauma to the spine,  but mentioned a possible fungal infection or tick-borne disease even though the test is negative. We are sending blood tests and have been advised to do a bone biopsy,” they said.

The medical team that treated Ottilia is closely analyzing her case to discover the true cause of her paralysis and be able to help her. This dog has a long way to go before she can walk again, but we know that she is surrounded by people who will fill her with love.

All the evidence collected has been sent to the authorities as a legal process will begin against those formerly responsible for Ottilia. Her negligence exceeded all kinds of limits and ended up making an attempt on the life of this dog in a slow and painful way.
